Cortona is conveniently located in a 1,15 hrs drive from Florence, 2 hrs from Rome and Pisa International Airports, 30 mins from Perugia (in Umbria) and Arezzo, 45 mins from Siena, 35 mins from Montepulciano, 1hr from Assisi (Umbria) e Montalcino (where the famous ‘Brunello’ wine comes from)…all the best sights of the famous Tuscan countryside, with yellow sunflower fields in the summer and multi colored trees in the spring!

Cortona is famous as the inspiration and setting for the book Under the Tuscan Sun, (that later became a movie) written by USA writer-novelist Francis Mayes. It also hosts a branch of the University of Georgia – USA, for artistic matters, since 1970.
